January 2011

Below is the combined summary of the two sessions of our January 2011. The full transcripts can be seen here.

The topic only lasting one week is too short. People aren’t getting enough time to look at them or comment. Having one topic last every two weeks will likely give people more time to check and comment in the forums.

Additionally, the next topic could be about topics that other people wish to see. That way we know that the topics are interesting to many people in the group, and Tara doesn’t have to think of them all by herself.

To get more people in the forums, we should try finding media outlets that are willing to work with us, and link to our forums. We could also target university and college newspapers- give journalists in college a chance to write and get recognized. If we post links to the forums more, it will get more traffic.

We also talked about the website/Facebook/Twitter/Email list/forums in general. Over all, seems like we are going to be continuing the push to develop a more community feeling and move general discussion off the email list on onto the forums.

The use of Facebook events were highly praised. It is also recommended that we use Google Calender for events for people not on Facebook.

The Wiki is going to be gotten rid of. All of the information is going to be taken off it, and copied onto the site in a meaningful matter, but then the wiki itself is not longer going to be used. The IGDA site has been sketchy and although the wiki has useful information, it isn’t up to date.

We need to work to develop lesson plans for the teachers so that they can incorporate accessibility into their lesson plans.

The  top ten list should be updated, as well as finishing the update on the white paper.
